How Can I Get Involved?

There are several ways to get involved with Memphis Literacy Council. You can:

• Tutor an adult who wants to learn.
• Collect new children's books for needy families.
• Make a charitable contribution.
• Encourage someone who needs help to contact us.
• Sponsor an event to benefit our programs.
• Volunteer to work in the office or share a talent.

Here are a few items that we could put to immediate use.

• Digital projector
• Digital camera (4 or 5 megapixal)
• DVD player
• 3 laser printers
• 2 TVs (wall-mounted)
• 10 tape recorders
• 10 personal CD players
• 30 sets of headphones
• Flatbed scanner

Your investment will have a significant impact on individuals and our community at large.  Participants in literacy programs report gains in employment and earnings, reduced dependency on welfare, improved management of health and finances, confidence in parenting, and motivation to continue their quest for education.
