Donating to Memphis Literacy Council

Your tax-deductible gift will help us fulfill our mission of helping people attain the literacy skills they need to become confident, self-sufficient, and productive citizens.

A recent study of literacy programs found that for every dollar spent the value created to the overall economy was $11.  This increased to $33 when tutors donated their time and talents.

Some employers will match gifts made by their employees.  Please ask if your company has a matching gift policy so that you can maximize your personal contribution to Memphis Literacy Council. 

You may wish to make your gift in honor or in memory of family and friends.  We will send a card to the individual or family, and a notice of your gift will be published in our newsletter and annual report.  There are other occasions for giving such as anniversaries, birthdays, graduations, and holidays. 

Here are some examples of what a gift to Memphis Literacy Council can accomplish:

• A day of learning at the literacy center ($1500)
• A year of instruction for an adult ($600)
• Parent training and books for a family ($400)
• Training and materials for a volunteer tutor ($300)
